Salmonella Egg Recall 2026: What You Need to Know to Stay Safe

Egg recall warning for Salmonella outbreak.

A recent Salmonella Egg Recall has prompted a nationwide food safety alert after 98 people became sick across 17 states, with 26 requiring hospitalization. The outbreak has been linked, in part, to recalled shell eggs from Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. Although no deaths have been reported, older adults, young children, and people with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of developing severe illness.

If you have recently purchased eggs, check the carton carefully. The recalled products include certain white shell eggs and brown cage free eggs sold under brands such as Country Morning, Cal Maine, Simple Truth, Kroger, Brookshire's, and Sunups. If your eggs match the recall information, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store for a refund. Clean any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the eggs using hot, soapy water.

Common symptoms of Salmonella include diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting. Symptoms usually begin within 6 hours to 6 days after exposure. If you or an aging loved one experiences severe symptoms, dehydration, or prolonged illness, seek medical care right away.
